The way it was tought to me was if I were looking for a pair of socks online and just typed ’socks’ into my browser I would come up with hundreds of thousands of search pages on socks. However if I was looking specifically for black ankle socks and searched specifically for these terms I would get what is known as a more refined search or a niche market.

So as you can see you have to put yourself in the same mindframe as your target market and look through their eyes to see what search terms you think they will be using to find your product or service.

This is what Niche Marketing is all about, that is why it is so important to research your market properly before you build your website.

Once you have done your research you will know the search terms and keywords to focus on to bring you the right traffic and therefore more sales.
